Apple, one of the world's most well-known companies, got its name from a fruit. The founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, is said to have been inspired by his favorite fruit — the apple — when deciding on the computer company’s name.

Jobs is famously quoted as saying: “I was on one of my fruitarian diets.... I had just come back from an apple farm, and thought the name sounded fun, spirited and not intimidating.”
